In a causative, a person does not perfom an action directly. The person causes it to happen by forcing another person to do it.

MAKE

His mother made him take his medicine.
I made the machine work.

MAKE can be used as a causative.

GET

Let's get John to go with us.
Let's get our car fixed first.

GET has less forceand authority than MAKE.
Use an infinitive (ex: to go) after person in a causative with GET.
Use a participle (ex: fixed) after things in a causative with GET.

HAVE

My English teacher had us give ral reports.
I want to have this book renewed, please.

HAVE has even less forve and authority than GET.
Use a verb word (ex: give) after person in a causative with HAVE.
Use a participle (ex: renewed) after things in a causative with HAVE.

LET

His mother let him go to school.
I am letting this machine cool.

With LET, a person gives permission foranotherperson to do it. (memo; LET can be replaced with "allow - to")
Use a verb word (ex: go, cool) after both person and things in a causative with LET.

HELP

He is helping me type my paper.
He is helping me to type my paper.

With HELP, a person assists antoher person to do it.
Use a verb word (ex: type) or an infinitive (ex: to type) after a person ina causative with HELP.
