Art Imitates Life

The pharase: Art imitating life is used to reder to the reality of life which appears in the literature. The term ART refers to any creative work (ex: literature, music, visual art, song lyrics, etc. The reader must identify the situation; refer to it as ART IMITING LIFE, and discuss it fully with INCLUDED QUOTATION.

Grass-Roots Writing

GRASS-roots writing is literature that is written on themes that are very basic, common, or ordinary.
The theme of the writing and the style of the writing is very 'down-to-earth' and can be understood and related to very easily by all readers.
A grass-roots writer writes about basic, common themes and his/her style of writing is clear and fown-to-earth, easy to understand because all readers can relate to it.

Arm's Length Experience in Literature

An author who has an ability to bring the reader close to the experience and the situation found on the page. He is able to give the reader an arm's length experience with the literature. This enables the reader to share in and to understand the experience and the situation found in the literature; found on the pages of the literature. The reader is able to share the experience and to observe and to understand the situation at a safe distance; to allow for analysis and discussion. This is also called a vicarious experience.
A VICARIOUS EXPERIENCE is not your actual experience. It is the ecperience shared by the write through literature, movies, journalism, media and all art. Expression gives a vicarious experience.
Vicariously, one can observe, analyze and benefit from an arm's length experience, without danger, suffering, or direct involvement. The vicarious experience is gained through the description, the voice, the expression of the author.

Everyman

Everyman; The Concept of Everyman refers to a focus on ordinary people living ordinary lives doing ordinary things. This tem comes from the Middle Ages in England when the first novel in western world, North America was written by Geoffrey Chaucer. The title was: Canterbury Tales. It was a book written about ordinary things. Chaucer called this: a focus on Everyman. (The word is always to be exactly like this. ALWAYS with a capital E. Everyman.)

Author's Signature

The author's signature is the author's characteristis as a writer. The author's signature is recognized as a special characteristic of the author which is found in his or her literature. The author's signature must be identified in the literature and clearly discussed with full details to show two things: 1) Your awareness of the special characteristic of that author. 2) Examples of the author's signature found in the literature.
